Pineys

Narrative Feature | Pre-Production

When Avery attends his high school reunion in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, he’s not sure he even wants to be there. Ten years after he left in order to transition, Avery struggles to reconnect with a hometown that no longer knows him. The only exception is June, his former best friend. June doesn’t care what Avery’s gender is; she’s just bitter that he left her behind.

To make things worse, an encounter with the legendary Jersey Devil begins to weave a supernatural web around both Avery and June. As memories waver and reality begins to break down, Avery and June face ATV-riding teens, a centuries-old legend, and each other as they find out what their lives might have been like if things had turned out differently—and what they might have lost along the way.

Built on the allegory of the Jersey Devil—an unwanted child cursed to haunt its former home—and set against the unique landscape of the Pine Barrens, Pineys is a horror-tinged, theatrical adventure about returning to a home that may not exist anymore.

Originally written as a student script, an early draft was a first-place undergraduate recipient of the Krevoy Screenwriting Fund Prize at Northwestern University. It is currently in development alongside producer Shayna Davis, director of photography Rick Cook, and a host of other talents.

A proof-of-concept teaser reel for Pineys is currently in post-production and will be completed in December 2025. In the meantime, learn more about the project by visiting the links below.
